| Message | I just wanted to thank you for your excellent website. I am a retired (several years ago) electrical engineer and did a significant amount of work testing software including setting up various network configurations of different operating systems and hardware. I recently acquired a wireless router and bought a book on home networking. I thought with my past experience and the book it should be duck soup. Well, they don't do a very good job of telling you what to do when things don't work. I had no problem getting the two pc's (one a wireless notebook and one directly connected to the router) to connect to the internet. However, I couldn't share my printers or files. Thanks to the information on your website, I discovered that I had conflicts in the TCP/IP stack. After straightening the conflicts out, voila it works great. Thanks again. |

I have a question: I found the following link on your site, but it doesn't exactly address my question: (note: I tried posting the link but I got a message saying that it was disabled, due to abuse) Essentially, I contacted a blog owner who is willing to give up her (unused) blog to me. But she just deleted it, thinking that I could pick it up, but its still listed as "not available." Will this link (and directions) help us to solve the problem? If not, what would you do? | Message | Thank you for your help with my File & Printer sharing issue. Only my stubbornness not to place a password on my account prevented me from solving my problem sooner. If I had known about Automatic Login, I would have done the deed at once, after you said you MUST have passwords. Live and learn. I am going to spend the next few hours with your "layered" network testing just to learn more about how it is done so I can provide better service to my customers. Thanks again, Bob |
