Message | I was an AK@ and a member of the pre-commissioning team that brought the Randolph out of moth balls in 1953. I was abord when we went through hurricane Carrol. That was scaey. I remember when someone caught a nine foot shark and pulled it up on the fantale. They tied a line around it and threw it back into the water. It did not take long for a great white to find it and bite it into two pieces. I was in a gun tub on the port side aft when an AJ went off the flight deck into the ocean. It nearly hit me on the head. I think there were two fatilities. Lots of other fun memories. I looked through all the notices and found no one that I recognized. I did go to the reunion in Nashville a few years ago. I knew no one when I got there but made several friends while enjoying all they offered. Highly recommend it. |
