Message | I am an Australian-based author of numerous books on the history of human space exploration. I have recently completed work on a new book about the flight of Alan Shepard aboard Freedom 7, which will be released by Springer-Praxis Books, and I am now researching a follow-up book on the flight of Gus Grissom in Liberty Bell 7. I am hoping that some who were on the USS Randolph the day of Grissom's recovery (or relatives) might contact me, as I would like to have a few personal accounts of this day based on your recollections. This worked really well in the telling of Shepard's arrival on the USS Lake Champlain and I would to do a similar treatment of Grissom's brief time aboard the Randolph. My second request is a search for personal photos of Grissom on the flight deck after his helo retrieval from the sea. There are only a handful of NASA photos of this, but I would love to use photos that have never been published before. I am sure dozens of personal photos would have been taken, as there were on the Lake Champlain. If you can assist I would be very pleased to hear from you. Should you wish to check my bona fides as a serious author please simply type my name into any search engine before responding. My email address is [email protected] and I live in Sydney, Australia. |
