MessageOnboard 65-67. Worked in Personnel Office and E & T Office. Real enjoyable service, lot of memories. Like to hear from anyone in X-Division and anyone I gave the GED test and the CCT Test. Gave a group of Marines the GED test, real experience. Best experience was being the last Navy ship to have liberty in Belfast, Ireland. Wish all shipmates good health.

MessageServed on the Randolph most of 1966-1968. Was in R-Div. and became a DC3. I have an open facebook group for shipmates, family and friends called "USS Randolph CVS15" with about 350 pictures from 1944 to 1973. I would love for you to join it (add or comment on what you see). She was a good ship but its crew made it great. Saw the Caribbean. Meditterian,Northern Europe, Bermuda, Ft. Lauderdale, Brazil and other places.

MessageI am an Australian-based author of numerous books on the history of human space exploration. I have recently completed work on a new book about the flight of Alan Shepard aboard Freedom 7, which will be released by Springer-Praxis Books, and I am now researching a follow-up book on the flight of Gus Grissom in Liberty Bell 7. I am hoping that some who were on the USS Randolph the day of Grissom's recovery (or relatives) might contact me, as I would like to have a few personal accounts of this day based on your recollections. This worked really well in the telling of Shepard's arrival on the USS Lake Champlain and I would to do a similar treatment of Grissom's brief time aboard the Randolph.

My second request is a search for personal photos of Grissom on the flight deck after his helo retrieval from the sea. There are only a handful of NASA photos of this, but I would love to use photos that have never been published before. I am sure dozens of personal photos would have been taken, as there were on the Lake Champlain.

If you can assist I would be very pleased to hear from you. Should you wish to check my bona fides as a serious author please simply type my name into any search engine before responding.

My email address is [email protected] and I live in Sydney, Australia.
