MessageWe have a wired linksys router with xp and 2k at home. the 2k was taken to the office and put on a wireless network. The wireless was on the desk top not in the tower. I am told nothing was put in the tower to make it work. He brought 2k home. I changed our workgroup names to match again. Sometimes we can see each others shared files, then it drops off. 2k has not been able to connect to the web since it came back. We purchased a new adapter card. Still no change. I did notice in device manager there are several (6 or 7) wan miniports listed. I can't take them out. Several of them have the yellow triangles with them. I disabled one and it went to red x. Some of them are hidden. We put the Winme laptop in the place of the 2k and it pops right on the web. The web is what we need. win 2k now has its own printer. We were sharing and would again but that is not the main issue. Linksys says it is not them, Comcast says it is not them. Compusa says it is not the adapter--new or old. I see your troubleshooting info, but am hoping you see a clue here as I have spent so many hours, I am not excited about many more hours on stuff that may not even be close to the challenge. I suppose we could buy the rest of the wireless gear and switch xp over? Any thoughts on all this.

Carol,

This would be a good issue to explore in one of the forums. I suspect a few people could learn from your experience. And we might even find a solution. Give it a go - you might be r>

MessageHi, Chuck
You helped me out with the article on using 2 routers in a LAN. Now I'm back with some connectivity problems in my home network-just changed routers; one way traffic when there should be two-way, etc. Hope I can find some help.

MessageThanks for the helpful info on solving a network problem. I purchased a new computer and it couldn't find the network. Using the tools and information you provided it was fairly easy to solve (unrecognized firewall in Norton). Thanks again.

Messagesmilie Hi Chuck,
I was searching for help about sharing files and printers on a wireless network with a DSL Gateway (Actiontec). I followed the troubleshooter in Win XP and the info I could find on the MS Passport forums but no help so far. I'm going to read your postings and see if I can get it working. You have a great website. Easy to navigate.
Thanks,
Hal
