MessageI just discovered your site yesteday, and I can't begin to tell you how helpful it has been. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out why some computers 'can't always see other machines on the network'. I have had this problem on my home network, and small office network.
I have had instances where I could see and copy files to another computer on the workgroup, and 5 minutes later got some variation of the dreaded '...is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource' message when trying to access the same machine. It has been maddening.

My particular problem seems to have been the node type set to peer-to-peer on the problem computer. I deleted the registry keys and voila! I can see the other machines and they can see the problem one.

The explanation of how the browser works is incredibly informative.I have learned more in 2 hours on your site than I have in DAYS anywhere else. You have truly saved my sanity. Can I send you some $$$?

Thank you very much,
Len Calandrella

MessageDear Chuck

I just wanted to say thankyou for hosting such a valuable resource for networking.

I had NetBT problem on my network and being a novice I was having great difficulty in resolving the issue. Spotting a link to your site in the ms newsgroup forum I found my way here. After reading your Tutorials on networking and troubleshooting I felt better equiped to tackle the problem. Most other places I browsed were nowhere near as thorough as your descriptions and the highlighted links are a great help to noobs like me.

I finally resolved the problem using the Winsock utility but I wouldnt have found it if it wasnt for your site.

Thanks again for your help Chuck its much appreciated

Tank smilie

Hi, Wayne,

If you can post your questions (however many you wish to ask) online, many folks can probably help you. We can't read your mind though.
