MessageHi 'Chuck' (is that your real name?)

I'm not given to over-adverbing praise, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciated your wonderfully helpful PChuck pages. I've been struggling with an arcane problem for two days now, and I found your pages inspirational (unfortunately they didn't help me fix the problem yet), but I decided to take a break and send you an AttaBoy.

I'm too am often called upon by friends and family to sort out PC problems, and so often once the problem is fixed, we/they forget to pay respects to the folks who did the hard work. So I just wanted to take time out to say my thank you. You are a gifted teacher and communicator, and there ought to be some public ack. for the hours of work you have donated, and the many hours of frustration you have saved multiplied by the many thousands who read your works.

Apart from obviously coming from an informed source, your help is concise, accessible, practical, and packs a lot of ideas into a short space, without the usual bamboozling yah-di-yah found elsewhere.

Thank you Chuck - a selfless person, doing excellent work.

//Mik

MessageThanks for helping me with my problem.
While waiting for your replies I'll be reading your tutorial and doing whatever I can to figure things out for myself. I'll let you know what I did when I reply to your posts or before if I stumble on anything I think is important.
My time is often limited, which is why I may not respond to posts immediately. I'm sure yours is too, which I fully understand.
Also, the computer with the problem is my 17 yr old daughter's. She mostly uses it to IM her friends and surf the Internet, i'e. for fun, so it's not the highest priority.

MessageMy old computer is running slow because I'm running out of virtual memory. I'm thinking about buying another computer but keeping the other one because many of my software programs can't be transferred as they were downloaded and I didn't buy download extensions. If I use my new, more powerful (a Pentium 4 or AMD) computer to connect me to the internet, do I redownload my security suite to my new computer or will it work by just leaving it physically in the old Intel Celeron one?

Tom,

Your questions would be much better discussed in an online forum. Using a GuestBook for interactive discussion isn't a good idea, for several reasons. Please follow the link above, to my Introduction Webpage..

Cheers,

Chuck
