| Message | Chuck I am having a problem with Windows XP Provessional networking. Ipconfig reports "Netbios over TCP/IP disabled" although both network connections and the registry show "enabled". What is going on? |

| Message | Dear Chuck: I am/was in Green Bay using an old win98se laptop, couldn't connect to the xp machine - no books or other resources to help, machines pinged, np. Nothing in Network Neighborhood either side of the equation. I followed your advice (I think the server setting was disabled in admin and I did an enable for netbios in advanced, both on xp machine), rebooted, 'presto' - 2.5 hour headache resolved. Thank you very much, if you ever want beer or hospitality in Toronto, Ann Arbor or Green Bay send me an email! It will be on me!! Best, Petrus |
