Message | I was stationed in Hersfeld from 59-60 in the Commo section as a radio operator. I was fortunate enough to make tha Batallion bowling team and travel to Bad Kissingen and Garmisch representing the V Corp. Our team finished 6th in all of Europe. I have also been fortunate enough to be able to return to Bad hersfeld 3 times since 1960. The first time was 1990. Man what a difference 30 years makes. I am interested in hearing from anyone who knew me during those years. My email is [email protected]. Thanks, Elvis |

Message | Hi! I was stationed in Bad Hersfeld back in 60-62. I spent 27 months in Hq&Hq Company as a fuel truck driver then a 5 ton cargo truck driver. I had a lot of very interesting experiences there needless to say. Two of which were a chopper crash just after lifting off the parade ground. it went down into the housing area for dependants. The other "fun" event was the gas dump fire caused by one of the guys in my platoon that decided it would be fun to ignite his lighter next to a 5 gallon gas can which had some gas spillage on it .It was quite a fire as many cans exploded and flew in all directions. It was quite a mess. I'm wondering where the heck Foxy is, that crazy guy from Boston. Paul Mc Cammon, I have a pic of you taking a pic, bet you would like to have it. I'd send it to you if i had your addy. Hey, anybody want to exchange pics from that time frame. let me know. my addy: [email protected] |

Message | Hello fellow Cavalry members. I was in L Troop 1st Plt Inf Sec from Jan 61-Jan 63. In Jan 63 I was transferred along with many short timers to the 1st Inf Division which was at that time in Berlin. We later were airlifted from Mannheim to Topeka Ka. in April of 63. The first Inf Division was getting ready for deployment to Nam which I was greatful to miss. During my time in Hersfeld I made a lot of good friends and our friendship still continues. ( Larry Thompson, Herman Schroeder, Ernie Hazard, John Walsh, John Masefield, Donald Chapman, & etc.) Hersfeld was a great town and I revisited it in 1993 with my family and later in 1994 with my sister. I'm always interested in hearing from fellow L Troop members. My email is [email protected] |
