MessageI never noticed before, and to think that Army trained me to be a scout...anyway, I digress. I just noticed that once upon a time, the Suivez Moi patch was worn over left pocket of the fatigue shirt..I came to Hersfeld in late '1960, and we didn't wear it there at that time..
Looking forward to getting together with Schroeder and Hazard this summer..going to be nearly as much fun as patrolling the Border on a nice summer afternoon in an open Jeep..!!

Hello to all..

MessageIn May, 1959 the Bn/Sqdn was in alert positions near Friedewald. One evening a Spec-4 fatally shot another Spec-4 with an M-3 submachine gun. I am writing an account of this time. Any info about the political & border situations at that time as well as names of men involved in shooting and any other details would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me by email [email protected] or call 1-319-351-3510. Suivez-moi! Joe Michaud

MessageHow Btry 65-66
This is a challenge to all 3rd Sqdn Troopers to contribute to the 3rd Sqdn Memorial. We need 10 thousand Dollars to make this happen. I have raised 350.00 so far and intend to raise more through raffle's and other means. I challenge the Trooper list to beat this, If nothing else what a good reason to return to the best duty station we all had in the Army. I am confident we will make this happen. Check out the above instructions for details. Everett Tracy is the money man for this, FOR THOSE INSTERESTED IN THS 3rd Sqdn Memorial Project. This is for the 11th Cav guys too. [email protected]

MessageI was stationed in I Troop as a Recon. Scout 2nd Platoon working for Platoon Sgt SFC Joseph Jackman and Section Sgt SSG Rabon from April 1965 to Jan 1966. Then became an OJT mechanic from Jan 1966 to Jan 1967 and Sqdn. Maint. as a mechanic and Job Order Clerk from Jan 1967 to April 1968. Worked for SSG Miller in I Troop motor pool.Received a Field Grade Article 15 for fighting in the NCO club and was transfered to Sqdn. Maint. Worked for CWO3 Phillip Q. Frisco and MSG Fraizer at Sqdn. maint.

Married a local girl from Bad Hersfeld and have been married for 40 years.

Understand that SFC Joseph Jackman went to HHQ as the 1st Sgt. I heard that when he went bact to the states he slipped in the bath tub and was paralized. He saved my bacon several times when he was my Platoon Sgt in 2nd Plat. I Troop.

MessageWhen I left L troop in 1960 they sent me to Fort Benning Ga to the 69 Armor a new Batt. just starting. At xmas every one went home but for 3 of us. On Chrismas Eve We cooked Eggs & Bacon in a mess kit in the Coal Furnace using a shovel. We cut down a scrub Pine for a tree and got a case of 3.2 Beer. That was a Chrismas I have always remembered.
Merry Chrismas to all smilie
