MessageMy Granny, Mabel Donnan was the schoolmistress at Shrigley, and I remember staying with her for a holiday next to the bloody awful tannery ! Although she had retired, the tannery hadn't!

Other holidays spent at Cuan Beach with my aunt, Olive Stevenson, my Mum's twin sister.

I remember getting stuck in the mud trying to walk across the bay from the harbour to Cuan Beach, with the tide coming in. There's still a boy-sized wellington in the mud there somewhere!
I love the place to bits, and only wish I could go there more often !

MessageWish I had time to read more of this tonight, I work for the incumbent Telstra. The stories of the Commer van remind me of the Ford Escort vans we had
With the backfire trick, worked well in the city I heard! Still with Telstra after 22 years, it used to to be a good life on the road until GPS trackers , ridiculous job targets and the Yanks who currently run us..Invaded our 'humaness'.

I am also a keen stranglers fan, will read more later.

MessageHello from Scotland!
Hi Dennis, I have ancestors, William and Margaret Kerr, who married in Killyleagh in 1839. His parents were David Kerr (a game-keeper) and Agnes Ritchie, and Margaret was a Shaw/Quintin. William and Margaret came to Scotland in 1839/1940. I have little else on them or their families from Ireland. A couple of years ago we had a lovely weekend in Killyleagh, with a morning in Belfast records office. I would love to hear from anybody who could help me track any other family members. [email protected]
Happy New Year when it comes!
Helen
