MessageI'm a huge Joe Lauzon fan and I remember when Sam beat him at UFC 108, I absolutely hated you for masterminding the end of a good run for Joe(I think he was 6-1 in his last 7 before UFC 108). However, I was shocked when I met you at UFC 131. I remember when you were walking past us after Sam's fight and I was going to say something bad to you because Sam beat Joe, but when I saw the way you'd go out of your way to interact with fans, it surprised me that you were such a down to earth, sweet natured man. It blew me away as I have been to many UFC and sporting events and I've never seen a famous man interact with fans in the manner that you did. It was amazing! There are no words to describe the way I felt after I saw the way you were in real life, and I remember myself rushing towards you to get a photo(In a matter of a few seconds my feelings about changed completely). I'll cherish that photo for the rest of my life and I'll always look upto you as a role model whenever I feel anger towards someone again. I felt so silly at UFC 131!
Anyway, the saddest thing for me was that after your death, it actually broke my heart when I heard stories about the sacrifices you had made for others. In the end, you sort of sold yourself short because you were so generous!
More than anything else, you were a true role model who epitomized generosity, heart and selflessness.
R.I.P Shawn Tompkins. I feel blessed for having a chance to meet you at UFC 131.

MessageIt breaks my heart that an amazing, kind man like you can be taken away from us so suddenly. I'll learn to appreciate every second of life now as if someone as healthy and fit as you can pass, it means anyone can too.
It's true when they say that its always the good people that die young.

Your legacy as a world class coach, kind and friendly human being and a world champion kickboxer will live on forever.

R.I.P Shawn!

MessageMy heart aches for Shawn's family and friends. I am a huge UFC fan and even though I didn't know him personally,I will still mourn his loss. He was an exceptional person, dedicated to the sport like no other.

Thank you Shawn Tompkins for the years of hard work and dedication you have put into your fighters. You will live on in so many hearts, especially mine. You were truly the best of the best.

Years from now we will still mourn your loss as if it were the day your were taken from us.

I believe GOD has a plan for everyone. On August 14th, he needed you for a far more important mission.

R.I.P. COACH.
