MessageHi Janine,

I hate to burst your bubble but the only people who saved lives on the Oceanos were the TFC crew, along with some of the Oceanos Greek & Philipino crew members. Mr Alvon Collson if I remember correctly was waiting with the rest of the passengers to be saved singing abide with me and praying, so yes maybe his prayers did save a lot of the passengers but Moss Hills and his crew did all the work.

Let the truth be spoken! smilie

MessageSo odd ..... I was thinking of the sad sinking of the Oceanos on Saturday, as Mr Alvon Collison judged some cats at a Cat Show that I was attending. He is an amazing gentleman, and if my mind serves me correctly, he saved quite a few lives?
I would like to add that I share in the joy that all of you survived this terrible disaster, I so well remember the footage on tv.

MessageDear Rose,

Thanks so much for providing us with the background information for the sinking of Oceanos. I am trying to find as much as possible to be able to create a movie script of the disaster as best as I can, without having access to any of the passengers. Your experience and amazing ability to capture the disaster from moment to moment really seem fascinating.
I am really anxiously seeking a documentary from the National Geographic channel, 'Cruise Ship Rescue" which does an in-depth analysis of the event. Can you help find me a copy of this?
Again, thank you.

MessageI worked as the disc jockey on the oceanos in 1981 approx. I was very shocked to see what happened and am full of praise for the members of the entertainment staff. I fortunately had a somewhat less eventful experience. Your site is excellant. I also worked on two other ships. They were greek owned ships called ss.Australis and ss.Britannis. Both have very interesting sites about their history and show crew and passenger photos. Check out photos of the australis, now a wreck she came aground at Fuerto ventura. Ken Ironside's homepage is one of the best about this once great ship.

MessageHi! I just saw Shockwave where they featured the Oceanos sinking in 1991. Thank God all of the passengers survived!
I was searching online to check if anything happened to the (idiot) captain and his crew. Were they prosecuted for abandoning ship? I really hope so...what a bunch of cowards!
Anyway, may God bless you and your family! Happy 2008!!! smilie smilie
