Message | To any body interested in acquiring information on relatives or any one involved in the war of independence, write to, officer in command military archives, cathal brugha barracks, rathmines, Dublin 6 Ireland. Over 1700 witness statements were made to the bureau, my grandfather did and may be yours too, i was delighted to read things i never knew about him and his involvement. It may take some time for a request, you need to give as much info as you can about the person,it took me about 6 weeks to receive them, and i have acquired 4 more since. the bureau was set up in 1947-1957 and the witness statement's were released in 2003 to the public. It is a great service, also i have a list of all the names of the people who made these statements, please feel free to email me for a name. [email protected] |

Message | I can provide a photograph of Dan "Sandow" O'Donovan if required for the "Who's Who" page. "Sandow" was my grand-uncle (as already mentioned in previous message). Please note also his surname is O'Donovan, not Donovan. I can be contacted by email at [email protected] |
