Message | I was 10 years old growing up in Lafayette, LA, (the hometown of Ron Guidry), so of course, every 10-year-old kid I knew idolized Ron Guidry. Ron was certainly a great one and always a class act, but for me, as both a 10 year old little league catcher, (and a summer-long player in the neighborhood's daily dawn-to-dusk pick-up games), Thurman Munson was my guy - the ONLY baseball player that I have EVER idolized.
I cried like a baby when Thurman died and to this day, to me, his is a name that represents all that was good about baseball and that Yankee dynasty. God Bless Thurman Munson & VOTE 'M IN! |
