MessageI firmly believe Munson should be in the Hall of Fame too! Munson is my all-time favorite Yankee ever. I was a young girl when Thurman was killed and a huge Yankee fan. I was so very sad when this happened. He will forever live in my heart as a Yankee great and I think he so deserves this honor. Munson has always had my vote. smilie

MessageThurman was my idol when I was a teenager during the 70's. Nobody symbolized baseball better than him. We need to get this to the forefront of all fans and get George's help to get him in the hall.
I will be glad to help!!

MessageI was a teenager during the Yankee's golden years of the 70's. The player that most epitomizes those teams is Thurman. Hard nosed, clutch and a fierce competitor he was the heart and soul of the team. Sparky Anderson said it best (during a pitching change in the '76 series after Thurman just got another hit) when he said Boy that guy can hit. Thurmans dedication to the game and commitment to excel on the field influenced not only how I played sports but how I live life. He was a tremendous influence on my life then and now. The Hall of Fame seems empty without him. He belongs in the Hall of Fame. May God rest his soul.

MessageI remember just sitting in front of my TV screen when WPIX in NYC broke in with the news. I couldn't believe my favorite player was gone... just like that! I met Diane at the 20th anniversary remembrance at Yogi's museum in Montclair, NJ. What a wonderful, gracious woman!
YES, we need to get THE captain into the Hall. If Fisk can go, Thurm definitely needs to be there.
