Message | I believe that Thurman Munson belongs in the Hall of Fame. While Johnny Bench was the premier catcher in the National League for the decade of the 1970's, it was Munson's ability to stay on the field while playing in pain that sets him apart from Carlton Fisk as the premier catcher in the American League for the same time period. That being said, I would be interested to see how many catchers can match Munson's streak of playing in 140 or more games for seven straight years during their careers. Also, I would like to see a list of catchers who can match Munson's 450+ at bats per year for nine straight seasons. Thurman Munson had 742 hits for four straight years during the Yankee Dynasty from 1975 through 1978. Can any catchers during the history of baseball match this amount of hits for four straight seasons?
Thank you sir
