MessageThank You, I am originally from the MS Gulf Coast & miss food with flavor so much. I make a few things but, I ate most of the cuisine at restaurants and am now compiling a recipe book for myself. No more staring at the food & travel channel cursing them out for getting what I can't! smilie

MessageJust discovered this terrific blog. I'm I'm a long time displaced Southerner myself. Introducing my Canadian friends to real Southern food and even the joy of grits, has become a passion and and my most immediate connection with the South.

Thanks much for all this valuable information. My Southern dinners give me the opportunity create discussion about things Southern. The Gumbo, Cornbread, the Collards and pork, the fried Okra, and fried Green Tomatoes have a loyal following.

You and Chuck Taggart are my heroes. Thanks big.

MessageNice to have this site on the net. I appreciate the time and all of the effort you have put into it. Gone to cook some cabbage and pickled pork with some cornbread for supper. Thanks for the entertainment and info.

Sincerely, Gina

P. S. Try some of "Nana's" Italian Fig Cakes if you are ever in the mood for a good fig cake. They can be purchased from Taranova's! Go on Saturday; they only make muffelettas on Saturday's and they are THE BOMB!
I promise.

MessageMy group and I went on tour in New Orleans this past summer. We were in for the whole New Orleans experience, and most of us loved the food. We are from Minnesota, but wanted a way to bring back some of New Orleans with us to share with our families. Your recipes helped a lot. We thank you! smilie
