MessageRe Most Wanted: 3. George W. Gage b. 1813 in VA, wife - Susan A.? They were in the 1850 James City County, VA census and int the 1860 census of York County, Virginia. Children were Margaret (married John F. Cully) George W. (or George H.) and Sarah A.

I received the following email from Jennifer Huffstedtler [[email protected]]

yes there is! George Washington and Charles Gage were brothers, sons of Samuel and Mary Ann Gage. Your GW was in the Civil War, while my Charles died while plowing his field (lightening!) before the Civil War started. Samuel died between 1830 and 1840 I think, maybe during the time that their family spent in Alabama. Samuel and Mary Ann got married in TN, the kids (the two boys and girl, maybe another girl) were all born in Alabama, then we find GW, Charles, and Mary Ann listed as a widow in McNairy County, TN by 1850 or so. My Charles married a woman named Nancy, and they had Emeline, John Jefferson, and Logan between 1845 and 1855. By 1860, Nancy is listed alone, and by 1870, Nancy and her 3 kids have all moved to southeastern Illinois.

So here is my connection:
Samuel and Mary Ann Gage
Charles and Nancy Gage (brother to George Washington Gage)
John Jefferson and Tabithan Ann Metcalf Gage
Charles Arnold and Helen Louise Cleaver Gage
Charles Cleaver and Erma Christine Shults Gage (grandparents)

I have sketchy information on GW and Charles' lineage going back to a David Gage in NC, meaning I dont have great proof

MessageI am also one of the granddaughters Essie Mae Brookins Kelly, and she was the mother of James Clifton Kelly, my father . My sister showed me this site and it is awesome. See previous guestbook entry by [email protected]. We live in SW Florida and our father was born in 1928 in Alabama and moved her over 70 years ago and is still alive today. I'd also like to know if any of the Brookin's relatives that married any Carroll's in this site, are related to the signer of the Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll of Carrollton. Thanks a bunch! [email protected]
