Messagewhat a great site! the amount of material and research on here is incredible. well done for putting so much effort into it.

I particularly like the way you have new photos of Cork, showing where particular events occurred - it really brings history to life.

MessageTe book on The War of Independence in north cork, made me think about all the things I never knew about my grandfather and family involved it makes me very proud to have their names in a War of Independece book a part of the book dedicated to them! I'm very proud of all the Liscarroll Volunteers company and i'm very proud to be from somewhere so small however so extraodinary as a village.
Charleville No.2 Cork Brigade-Old IRA and the Liscarroll Company Volunteers and everyone else from liscarroll and North Cork have made a difference in our lives as Irish Citizens. smilie

MessageThis is a great website due to the fact that not attention is given to the common people of County Cork and their struggle during the times. My Dad's uncle, Lt. Con Cunningham of Clonbanin Cross (north Cork), fought with and was a personal friend of General Denis Galvin of Clonbanin. He took part in the Clonbanin ambush and others. It is hard to find much detail about the people on the internet. I have had a hard time trying to find information about my uncle. All I have are some newspaper clippings from his death in 1923. So much is lost and will be lost of these times if it is not recorded and made available to others.
Thanks for your website and research !!!!

MessageGreat info on the site.

Just heard that 'The Real Chief' by Meda Ryan is to be reissued by Mercier Press in Cork in the next couple of months. I've been trying to get that book for years!

MessageThis is a wonderful site and contains so much information on the War of Independence in Cork that I was totally unaware of and it is facinating to read.I visited Cork Prison last year but do not recall seeing any memorial to those volunteers who were executed there.I thunk it would be a fitting testimony to them to have a plaque or other such erected to their memory.Keep up the good workn smilie ยต
