MessageIt could be me writing this site!! Reading this I was overcome with waves of nostalgia for the 'good old days' (although we didn't appreciate how good they were at the time.) I started as a TTA on 25/08/1969 in Yeovil TEC (now a Lidl supermarket) I can relate to all the things you talk about Dennis. Good on yer mate, it really is about the very soul of the Post Office Telephones. I left under 'Escape 92' (management called it Release 92'- I knew better) Still in the 'phone business, my own though! 'Westline Communications' All the best to all ex GPO boys. smilie

MessageGreat site, wish I had thought of it first. I joined in '71 just after GPO but still had some dark green vans kicking around. Pleasant days indeed. smilie

MessageCame across this site by accident while searching for Dave Milners BT photos site. As someone who still works for BT in Sheffield I really enjoyed the stories of life working from Maltravers Rd, some of which were told to me after I joined the company in 1979. Looking forward to more stories in the future.
Best Wishes....Paul. (internal constuction, mainly in Eldon House, Sheffield). smilie

MessageDennis,
Nostalgia that I can identify with!
Although coming from the Doncaster side of the patch I worked in Sheffield during the early 1970's. I remember some of the incidents well - especially Trev , the nightclub bouncer stuck up a pole !
Good luck with the site and links.
