MessageYes it all comes back to me when you I it, I was an apprentice in 1969, GPO, I remember getting a 'bollocking' from Mr Prutton, an Exec engineer for reading the Paper at 07:50, he never gave me a chance to say I didn't start until 08:00.

Just one small note, maltravers was indeed 'tried' to be sold by BT, it got about 85% of the way through it and then I hear, when they found out they didn't actually own it, they were leasing it..-oops!

I am still employed by BT and now travel all over the world for them.

I hope you still have your 81's

MessageHero's yes indeed... smilie Ian Paice tought me the drums (unknowingly) I would sit @ my kit and play Machine Head through headphones... side 1, then side 2, then side 1, then side 2 so on and soforth... I've seen MK3 only once in Perth W.A. - a bouncer tried to stop me from trying to get a little closer to my hero's... I said I've been waiting F$*king years to see this band, have you? nevermind - get out of my way!

I've seen S.Morse with DP (good) but I guess DP just needs that RB touch for me.

Sabbath are on thier way to Perth this year, I won't miss that!

Can we have everything louder than everything esle.

Rock N Roll smilie

MessageI really enjoyed stopping by your website and riding the Purple Wave down memory lane. I remember rocking to the sounds of Deep Purple back in 1978 as a High School Senior, way back in the day.

Of all the rock concerts that I have attended over the years, I was always fascinated and always geared my focus on the drummers. Ian Paice is one of the very best in the business. What a great touch he has and proves it with every beat. That smooth stroke comes in right on time, every time and can be heard throughout the building!

My hat's off to you for your excellent work on this website and all the information that is made available about this long standing great band. Thanks for all the memories, pictures, and info!

Great Job!! I believe I will ease on out of here now and go blow a little "Smoke On The Water"!!

MessageI have a special fondness for Deep Purple for their innovative sound. So heavy yet so melodic. You can talk about the greatest rock guitar gods like Page,Beck and Clapton.Blackmore has without made his mark.

MessageFantastic! Your site brought back many happy memories of working at the GPO/BT from 1970 to 1991.I worked in Birmingham as a maintenance jointer,(hairy arse).I now work as an installer in Vancouver for Telus.I miss the cameraderie of the old days when you could have fun and take the piss,(in a friendly way),without being threatened with disciplinary action and all that crap. The wankers here spout "team player" but haven't got the slightest clue what that really means. They try to set us against each other to divide and conquer! Wish I was back in my Bedford TK frying bacon and egg and pissing in the "wok"! Cheers, Alan Cunningham.(Ace)

MessageI too saw Deep Purple @ Knebworth in '85. A most awe inspiring thing. I remember it rained all day until Purple came on about 9.30pm if I remember correctly. Smoke on the water, with those huge banks of speakers on the hill. A very fond memory indded. It's a shame there's no film. I saw them again about 3 years ago @ the NEC in B'ham. Another great concert
