Message | My brother Mark and I were both born in Ray; me in 1954 and him in 1953. Dr. John Edmunds delivered us in the small hospital there. My dad, James Alvin Lee, was hired as a "training director" by Abe Morris who was the general manager for the Ray mines division of Kennecott Copper. My dad first worked on what turned out to be a very effective safety plan for the Ray mine, and later worked to address pay and housing inequalities between the Mexican and Anglo employees, My parents lived lived in a "wingfoot" (a small portable house of about 400 square feet)and later moved into a larger factory-built home. I came upon this website and was glad to see that someone had put some information about Ray on a website! |
