Message | I was born in Ray in 1954 to Curt B. and Frances M. Bedlion. Both sets of my Grandsparents, Curt C. and Ester Bedlion and Everett and Rosa Lee Brown also lived in Ray and worked for the mine.
We moved to Kearny when Ray was abandoned and then in 1960 moved so Southern California. My Grandpa and Grandma Brown moved to Superior, AZ and my Grandpa and Grandma Bedlion moved to Glendale, AZ.
I still have family in the area and will always consider "Ray" my home... even though it is just a huge hole in the earth now and forever more.
In the 50's and 60's when the only company in town wanted to do something, they did it... Today, that would never happen. People are more environmentally aware and more respectful of the history of a town or region.
Ray will always be a big part of my life.
