| Message | Dear Sir, I am requesting information from Sensei Richard Sapp, concerning a rank test when he was the Chief Official of the committee on July 15, 1965, Houston, Texas, and was also the USKA Representative who signed certificate No 292 for George David Mabry. On that day in Houston, Texas, as I understand it, you tested Mike Lassiter and David Mabry for their Shodan ranks in Shotokan. We have some very cool black and white photos from that day. There were three officials in the photo. Sensei Sapp has on a gray gi top, then there are 2 other officials, one was Sensei McMorris and the other (in a Hawaiian shirt)is unidentified (can you recall his name). Also, can you please provide any backstory that you may remember about that day. I will be glad to send you all of the photos from that day (one was a very interesting of Sensei Sapp in a low fighting stance)if you will be so kind as to send me your email address. I'm sure it was a very good test and expertly administered. In 1965, I had just started training in Shotokan and was only a 14 year old kid. Sensei Mabry took me under his wing for many years. My purpose is to make a historically acurate document for Sensei Mabry and for the Mississippi Karate Association. | Message | Would like to chat with you sir.. just opened my school Shorei Ryu Karate Studios in new Mexico and am with the USAMA as well I studied under Mr Burley Wagner in Kankakee IL and now have taken over our old logo and patch as well. I am 36, yondon in both Shorei Ryu and recently Shorei Goju Ryu under Doctor Fields. I have even used some of your YouTube videos for training for my students. We have only been open for six weeks and have acquired 35 students. We are committed to keeping the original SHOREI RYU name alive out of honor and respect to GM Trias and my teachers, Mr Wagner, Carl Southard, and Sonny Sneijberg. Hope to chat with you soon. |
