MessageI was told about your site by Dick Ridolfi and Ernie Berrisford. I didn't realize you had a Bromley site. I grew up in Bromley--251 Johnston Ave, between East State Street and Greeenwood Aves.

It was a wonderful place to grow up. My brother, Larry, and I always say that we were so lucky to grow up there. Bromley field was our mainstay during the summer. Farmingdale School's summmer playground provided us with organized baseball teams.

Also, Hepner's field which was located behind Rich and Phil Hepner's house and Mr. Collis's house was another baseball outlet for all the kids in the neighborhood.

Also, during the summer we enjoyed our weekly trips to the library on Greenwood avenue. A large group of us would walk there and sit on the lawn of the library to read the books. Many times we'd go back in to exchange our books for new ones because we'd read them outside.

My parents left the area in 1984 because my dad was mugged three times--once right in front of our house. They moved to Hopewell Township.

I am so thankful that I had such a wonderful, happy, and active childhood.

MessageI live just across the Delaware in PA. My research sometimes takes me to Trenton, and I have been fascinated with the Hamilton Square area. Many people have asked me if Bromley Place had anything to do with the Bromleys who worked at Ott & Brewer and are credited with developing American Belleek ware in the 1880's(?). They are buried in Greenwood Cemetery. Thx!

MessageHi Tom,
Former USAFSS, '68-'72, radio intercept operator here. These days I do a little SWL and scanner monitoring here in Arkansas.
Many of the stately homes on Rt 33 just west of the Bromley Inn were built by Jack Barnes Sr. years ago. For more info, you may try to locate his grandson, Jack. He may still be the owner of Ocean County Coin & Stamps in Brick Twp. Young Jack bought out B & S Coin & Jewelery at the King's Fairground Mall in the early '80s.
Regards,
Mike
