Message | Enlisted in the Navy on 1 April, 1969 .... nobody ever said "April Fools!" Boot camp and RM-A school in San Diego followed. First duty station was NAVCOMMSTA Argentia, Newfoundland, followed by a short stay at COMCOSRON-3 in San Diego (1970). Orders to PG-93 (Patrol Gunboat) homeported in Guam followed. We spent nearly a year in-country Vietnam, working out of Cam Ranh Bay. Next duty stations were NAS/NATC Pax River MD (1972) and NAVCOMMSTA Puerto Rico in Ponce, PR. (1974) Detailers then thought I needed to learn a foreign language, so I got orders to HQ AFSOUTH, Naples, IT, (1977) working with NATO at the AFSOUTH Distribution Center, sending crypto equipment and COMSEC material all over the NATO region. After Italy, I got orders to the USS Trippe (FF-1075) (1980) homeported in Charleston, SC. With a little help from RMCM Waters, swapped duty stations and moved to COMCRUDESGRU TWO staff duty (1982). My final duty station was NAS Glenvew, IL (1986) until I retired in June of 1990 I can be reached at [email protected] and currently work for the Voice of America/International Broadcasting Bureau in Washington, DC. Would look forward to hearing from any previous contacts. |

Message | I think we actually had 4 RBC's. 2 for Fleet Broadcast and 2 for ship-to-shore. |
