MessageI was 9 years old when Thurman died. I remember hearing the news on the radio in my parents station wagon (on the way home from a family outing). Even as a 9 year old, I remember how sad I felt when I heard the news. Thurman was a class act who was the centerpiece of two world championships and whose offensive and defensive numbers speak volumes. Thurman belongs in the Hall of Fame, no questions asked.

MessageFor Thuman to not be voted into the Hall of Fame because of a tragedy that ended his life is obsurd. His accomplishments on the field, the "c" on his chest, and championship rings on his finger, plus his impressive resume, should be enough to make him amongst the immortals of the game. Vote this man into the Hall of Fame

Sincerely,
Corey Scheiner

MessageAfter 30 years still my favorite player ever.
He desirves to be in the HOF. He still had 5-8 years left in his career. If he did not get killed he would have made it.

MessageI am a huge yankee fan born in 1979 and along with Reggie Jackson are the yankee legends of my time. I feel that not having a leader like Munson, to me the very first modern day captain, is a travisty. the times we live in when the game we love is under constant attack due to mistakes of other players, I only hope that the veterans comittee comes to its senses and allows a true hall of famer like Munson to get in. His career may have only lasted 11 years, but his impact can be felt a lifetime later.

MessageThirty years have come and gone and still the memory of you as our Yankee Captain and leader carries on. We know you were the best and when it came to the postseason you blew away the rest. Your lifetime postseason batting average of .357 destroys the competition. Not one Hall of Fame catcher can even come close. Ray Schalk is next in line with a .286 lifetime postseason batting average with all the others below that! Your 22 runs batted in during the postseason is more than Carlton Fisk, Mickey Cochrane, Gabby Hartnett, Ernie Lombardi and Ray Schalk combined! Your 46 hits lifetime in postseason trails only Yogi Berra for all time as far as catchers in the Hall of Fame are concerned. You and Jim Rice are the ONLY PLAYERS for the decade of the 1970's to have 3 straight years with a .300+ batting average and at least 100 runs batted in. You were the best and the best are supposed to go to the Hall of Fame. THIRTY YEARS OF IGNORANCE IS ENOUGH ALREADY! PLEASE WAKE UP HALL OF FAME!!!

MessageI can't believe it has been 30 years. I remember August 2, 1979 like it happened yesterday. I was 12 years old and Thurman was my hero (and still is). The news hit me like a sledge hammer to the face. One of the saddest days of my young life at the time.

Rest in peace Captain. Put this man in the Hall of Fame where he belongs!
