| Message | Hey Michelle! I'll be checking in to read your blog when I get a chance. When do you leave for South America? You're still in the Bend preparing right now, I gather? The entry about "Compassion Fatigue" was very interesting, by the way. When I went to India (as well as other portions of Asia) first semester of senior year, I encountered absolute poverty in a very visible, tangible way for the first time in my life. I was not even there to do any sort of charity or missionary work, but even seeing these impoverished people on a daily basis was very draining for me somehow. I began to feel a lot less happy and passionate about certain things which used to enthuse me, and I think the things I saw in India still affect me to this day. I wouldn't want it any other way, but still, you're right, you will have to guard yourself against "Compassion Fatigue," because it is real. Anyway, I'll be thinking of you!
