MessageHey Michelle! I'll be checking in to read your blog when I get a chance. When do you leave for South America? You're still in the Bend preparing right now, I gather? The entry about "Compassion Fatigue" was very interesting, by the way. When I went to India (as well as other portions of Asia) first semester of senior year, I encountered absolute poverty in a very visible, tangible way for the first time in my life. I was not even there to do any sort of charity or missionary work, but even seeing these impoverished people on a daily basis was very draining for me somehow. I began to feel a lot less happy and passionate about certain things which used to enthuse me, and I think the things I saw in India still affect me to this day. I wouldn't want it any other way, but still, you're right, you will have to guard yourself against "Compassion Fatigue," because it is real. Anyway, I'll be thinking of you! Good luck with the rest of your preparations and your next 2 and a half years in South America!

Peace.
--Angela

MessageHey, Michelle! Great to hear from you as always. It's fantastic to see your dreams coming to fruition, especially considering all of the hard work you put towards each endeavor even while you were in high school. You're one of the nicest and most genuine people that I've ever met, and I hope (nay, know) that success will follow whichever trail you blaze.

We'll have to chat sometime to fill in all of the other gaps~ let me know your AIM id, your e-mail (so I can invite you to Google Mail, which lets you chat while you're on the page), or MySpace name (mine's at http://profile.myspace.com/ =61449703 ).
