Glad you liked the site - I think all of the visitors like to hear these personal stories. If possible it would be great if you could send me a scan of the picture.

I have a major update to do shortly - Michael Boyle has sent me a number of movie stills and I would love to add your personal picture. Jack Carson died far too young but at least he left a huge body of work all of which still seems as fresh today.

MessageMy mothers father, Theodore Brunke and Elsa Carson were brother and sister. In my younger years, my Mom, Jack's first cousin would get letters from Jack. It was always thrilling when Jack was on TV and the family would always gather around the tube to see Uncle Jack. Several times we traveled to California but did not get a chance to visit with him.
It is shame when we lose talent such as Jack Carson at a very young age. Just a review of his film credits is impressive. We have a an autographed picture of Jack to my mom with the inscription, To my Lovely Cousin, Janie, All the Best, Love Jack

MessageI grew up in Sherman Oaks in the San Fernando Valley of California. You saw "stars" all the time in the 40's and 50's and you didn't make a big deal of them. They could go anywhere and not be bothered or mobbed like now. A screenwriter, John O'Day (wife Nedra) lived near us and were friends of Jack Carson and his wife at the time, Lola Albright. The Carson's came over with a brand new 1954 Pontiac convertible, kind of a pea green color, and I was all excited about the car and he got a kick out of that. I can still clearly see them driving off to Ventura Blvd!

MessageI was fortunate enough to see Carson's movies in the 40's and 50's. His film persona couldn't conceal his intelligence and sensitivity. He did what the great actors do best--listen.

His charm and comic gifts recall the line--"Dying is easy, comedy hard".

MessageI've been a Jack Carson fan for most of my life. His versatility was nothing short of extraordinary. How he could play light and breezy and then, on a dime, turn vicious and calculating is a skill that few other actors have mastered. But he was a master at it. Great website. Thanks!

MessageMy first look at the website, and it looks great! I've always enjoyed seeing Jack in pictures like Arsenic and Old Lace, etc., but most recently I've listened to his appearences on the Kraft Music Hall radio programs with Bing Crosby... hilarious performances - highly reccommended!
