MessageThanks Larry! I really enjoyed the visit!! I haven't been here since shortly after you started it. I still have many class pictures of Cherrywood - do you want any of them?

btw - I saw that flying saucer that you have an article on - I believe it was the same night! I was in grade 8 anyway - which was in 74/75. I was walking home on Cherrywood Ave with Deanna Slater who lived in the house across the fields. We were in front of your house and I saw it - just like it was described in the article. I screamed and ran into our house. Deanna thought I had gone crazy! She didn't see it at all. It was huge and gold in color. I've never heard about it before now!

I'll be back - I want to read that history of Cherrywood! Thanks so much - what a pleasant visit!

MessageHappy New Year to all! The emotions that still stir around in my heart even after all thez yrs. only proves what a special place Cherrywood is to me. I miss our farm VERY, VERY MUCH & maybe it is the new yr. blahs but since our boot from that beautiful pc. of heaven, it still makes me tear up when I think of it. I have moved around a lot smilie & for so many yrs. felt I would never find a new place that would feel even close to the wonderful memories I have of Cherrywood. I've now been on this little isle for many yrs. & with family & friends here, it is my home & I do luv it very much. I want to thank you Larry for reminding me of what a great place we all came from. To see names of people that my mind has put on the back burner for sometime is marvellous. The pics of sites that I totally forgot about. What a simply joy! My mom, bro & I are scraping up some stories & pics to share which will hopefully flicker a memory light in someone else's mind & bring forth more of our happier memories, as there are so many! MessageHi Folks,My parents emigrated from Scotland to Cherrywood in 1928.They lived for a short time on the farm which on the Map of Cherrywood of 1967 is owned by A Holmes on Concession Road 3. The farm on the opposite corner ( A Wood ) was at that time owned by my Mothers Uncle and Aunt, John and Agnes Barnes. I was born in 1931 in Rhodes Avenue, Toronto, and brought to Scotland by my Motherlater that year.Last year I was fortunate enough to be able to return to Canada and visit both Toronto and Cherrywood. Now I know why my Mother always had a serene smile on her face when she spoke about her time there. Life would have been very hard in those days, but the place would more than make up for that. She often spoke about Mr Morrish at the store and Dr Simpson who lived near by with affection.I thank all who have tried so hard to preserve the old community, because if it was not for you, then when I returned it would probably be a City full of high rise blocks, I thank you all again , keep up the good work.

MessageFor those of you who may be wondering who THERESA smilie is; she is one of my two loving children. I think between the two of them, they have already picked the home to put me in, and split up the money. smilie

MessageThe web site brings back lots of great memories of the part of my life that I lived in Cherrywood.I could not ask for a bettter place to have been raised--the people, the evironment, the Church & Sunday School, the school, the sports and recreation-(with everyone encouraged to participate) were second to none that I have seen since leaving Cherrywood. I look forward to sending in more history that may be of interest to Cherrywood people past and present. West Vancouver Dec 27th/05
