MessageHey,
Great to catch up with you both, finally, last night. Pity, re the ordinary meal. I always find it difficult eating out in Amsterdam - so few places seem to offer that elusive combination of great ambience, service and value. It can even be tricky, in the 50Euro + range! I'm trying to compile a mental note of them. The Indonesian place on The Spui, that Fred I went to once has made it on the list, La Strada has now been struck off, but if there are any others, please advise....
We'll have to do some better research next time,
Cheers,
Howard.

MessageIf you are interested in my email about airbrushing a cigarette from Brunel have a look at
http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/mortarboard/2006/07/airbrushing_history.html
and see how Brunel Univercity's new state of Brunel airbrushed out his cigar

MessageAt the Edinburgh Festival Mel Smith was playing Churchill but was banned from smoking a cigar!!!

A news story about the famous 19th century engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel has got us thinking about more than just the boats and bridges he built.

Earlier this year a schoolbook about Brunel, for five to seven year olds, was published with an old photo of him on its front cover. However, the cigar he was smoking was removed from the picture and some people are not happy about this.

The photo on the cover of the book was taken in 1857 and shows the groundbreaking British engineer in front of his famous ship, the ss Great Britain.

What is the world coming tosmilie
