Message | Greetings to you, I want to thank you for saving my bacon. Smile I am getting ready to have a gumbo party and some of the traditional sides I have forgotten. My daddy was a New Orleans chef back in the 20's to the 50's. From age 7 he had me on a milk crate learning how to cook New Orleans style food, creole and cajan. But, being born in California and his separating from my mother in the 60's when I was a teen. I forgot a lot of the receipies, and techniques he taught me. But I still make the best gumbo in my area of Cali. But I need to know if you know of the receipt for a sause he put over a leg of lamb, it was so good and I want to make it for THANKSGIVING this year. All I know is that it was a tomato gravy style with shrimp. I have tried to duplicate it but I am leaving something out, because it doesn't taste the same. It was so delicious. Can you or some of your fan base in New Orleans help me. I need to feel my daddy's love again. God Bless you all and thank you. Susanne from Oakland, California. Also, I would like some boudin receipies if ya'll would be so generous and kind. It's loney up here and I am sorry but these people cannot cook my favorite style of food, bless their little hearts, they try. |
