Am looking to get a copy of a border certificate of that period. I think it had a watchtower not a horse-mounted trooper. I have a collection of Border & Berlin Wall related material (lots from East Zone) and would correspond with other troopers who collect. Open to buy or trade any photos of border or other mementos of service of that time. Went back to Hersfeld in 2003. a real Blast from the Past. Suivez-moi. |

| Message | We lived in Bad Hersfeld from 1958-1961. Dad was in I Company 3rd Platoon. Not sure what that converted to in 1960. We lived on base, loved it. Dad stood border patrol in his tank, didn't love it. The cold war was hell. He did love Germany and his outfit. Many, many fond memories of Bad Hersfeld. |

To update our family tree I'm looking for help.I'm searching for Information of a former soldier, stationed in Bad Hersfeld, Germany in the period from about 1958 to about 1961 at the Mc Pheeters Barracks 3rd Squad 14th Armed Cavalry. The only Information I have is the last name HUITT and his address after April 1961 was probably somewhere in the State of Kentucky (possibly Fort Knox).
