MessageCan anyone tell me the significance of the lily sticker that some people wear at Easter. I know that my uncles used to wear them.

MessageGreat Site.
My father Jeremiah Scanlon left Cork in 1922 and I was told when he died he was a member of the 1st cork Brigade but so far I am unable to find any record of it.

MessageI am trying to find information on the O'Sullivan brothers who had a sister Mary(born 14th November 1899). The family lived in Cork or thereabouts during the 1920s. Mary married a Black and Tan and left the country in 1924 approx. This was a huge disgrace to the family and she was disinherited. I can't find any information about her brothers who we were told were executed by the British for being involved in the irish war. We were told that there were seven brothers but I am not sure of the correctness of that. I see several O'Sullivans mentioned in your articles, does anyone know if they are the same family? Thanks Michaela

MessageI have the same problem trying to play the clips, using both Firefox and Chrome browsers. It must be an issue with Realplayer itself. No idea how to solve it unfortunately.

MessageFantastic site . stumbled upon this site while reseaching my grandfather's history .Toddy O Sullivan was listed as active Volunteer in B Company , Cork City Battalion on Active Duty under arms on Easer Sunday April 23rd, 1916.
As Captain of 'F'Company 2nd Battalion, He took part in all major engagements in Cork City during the War of Inependence. He was twice imprisoned and on one occasion with Padraig O Caoimh, ex secretary of the GAA,he was captured in posession of arms a few days before it was announced that the penelty for this was death.During the Emergency he was O.C.of the 48th Battalion L.D.F.
I would love to find out more about these activities particularly relating to Toddy O Sullivan.......Thank You

MessageWell done a fantastic site! So much so that after seeing it - I was motivated to set up a website chronicling the War of Independence in Clare. If you send me an e-mail perhaps we could link the two?

Thanks - and again well done. Mo ceol thu!
