MessageSuch a shame that you passed on Shawn, I had you on facebook for awhile and talked to you every little while. You will be missed, was awesome to see you cornering so many fighters all the time.

MessageI had the pleasure to meet Shawn 2 months ago in Vancouver. He was so nice to the fans. Anyone who stopped to talk to him he would not hesitate to talk with them. I had a great conversation and was lucky to have the opportunity to talk with him. RIP Shawn and wish friends and family the best

MessageThe first time I saw Shawn, he was cornering Chris Horodecki at an IFL event. I remember being struck by the close bonds he seemed to share with his fighters - particularly him calling out instructions to Chris in the ring, and addressing him as "Son". I didn't know him personally, but I know the effect he had on his fighters, friends and those close to him. MMA media can be brutal sometimes, and when you fall under scrutiny no one is safe. I don't recall ever seeing a single bad word being printed about Shawn, even when he left Xtreme Couture for Tapout. He will be missed, and I send my thoughts and prayers to the Tompkins family. RIP.

MessageAlthough I have never met Shawn Tompkins, I got the perception that he was a great coach who was very humble and very selfless as well as driven by his desire to be the best coach that he could be to his fighters and his team. That may or may not be how he was, but that is the perception I got from watching videos of him coaching the likes of Sam Stout, Vitor Belfort, Randy Couture, Mark Hominick, and Chris Horodecki, just to name a few. I was very shocked to read online that he passed away. 37 is way too young of an age to pass away at, but life is short and we should live every minute of every day to the fullest, doing what we love and enjoy the most. The world has lost one of its great coaches, and the fight world gathers with the family of Shawn Tompkins to mourn his passing. The family has lost a father, brother, son, cousin, uncle, nephew, husband, brother in law, son in law, father in law and grandson in Shawn Tompkins while the fight world has lost a role model, a motivator, and a coach among other things in Shawn Tompkins. My deepest condolences go out to the family of Shawn Tompkins. Rest In Peace Shawn Tompkins.
