MessageI spent my first summer camp with troop 112 at Flying Eagle in 1970. I earned the rank or Eagle October 1972. I see your listing of eagle scounts and found my name incorrectly listed as "Unknown Duckshire" I do hope that can be corrected. I was also a member of OA in the Oseola chapter. I served on the first staff at Frnaklin Miles at the age of 15. My Grandson will be at Flying Eagle in a couple of weeks to attend the OA ordeal as he was tapped out. He is already Life rank and working on his Eagle. My youngest Grandson will be Star by March and looking forward to working on Life and Eagle. A very proud Grandpa for sure! I want to show them my name in the Eagle listing if I can have it corrected. A wonderful site for Flying Eagle! Thank you for your dedicated hard work!

MessageVery good site- well done! I attained Life Scout (finished Eagle requirements, but not in time for 18th bday!) with Troop 80 in the SWFL Council and Brotherhood in Osceola 564, so I spent most of my time at Camp Miles. I did have the privilege to camp at CFE with my ROTC Brigade (Lee County) in 1998, but didn't get to do much 'exploring'. The historical account of CFE on your site is great!
As a matter of fact this very weekend, as Pack 80's Webelos Den Leader, I'm taking my son and the rest of our Webelos to CFE for the first time for Webelos Activity Weekend. Can't wait to introduce the boys to the oldest Boy Scout Camp in Florida...hope you don't mind me using some of your materials for educational purposes! Thanks, and take care. smilie

MessageI was in T103 1984-1990, then SHS JROTC Explorers 1988-1991. A buddy and I bought MAJ Paul Tatum an JROTC into the Explorer program. Great memories. Thanks to Scouting, 20+ years later I find myself still in uniform, leading an Infantry Battalion of 900 men in combat. It's all the same stuff, I will do my duty. Be Prepared. MDJ, Eagle Scout '87

MessageMember of Troop 103 and Troop 176, earned my Eagle in 1992. Was summer camp staff in '89, '91, and '92 at CFE - who remembers the Golden Eagle Hike around the perimeter of the camp? I suppose nowadays it wouldn't be quite the same as it was 20 years ago!

MessageI have always know that our father, Maurice Paige, loved camping and loved Boy Scouts.
Seeing him listed as one of the First Season Flying Eagle Campers in 1929, was special but not a surprise. It was also special to read his letter to "Uncle Charlie" in the 1954 Old Timers.pdf file you have.My sister,Peggy said it reminded her of being introduced to the Fiddler Crabs that ran across Charlie's lawn.
Thanks For the memories,
Frank
