MessageBarbara thank you for sharing this website and the reminders of Eve. I miss her too and think of her often. She was a wonderful friend and an inspiration with the energy that she put into everything that she was passionate about. She made me strive to be a better person in many facets of life from exercise to academics. I don't think she ever realized what a beautiful woman and incredible person she was. Now, more than 10 years later and as a mother of 3 daughters, my heart goes out to you, I cannot imagine how difficult the loss of a daughter could be.

MessageBob and Barbara,

I want to validate your awesome labor of love you do for indigenous peoples from the Navajo Nation in memory of your beautiful daughter, Eve! Your efforts save lives and offer hope for a new day for many who suffer from depression, childhood trauma, substance abuse, violence and suicide. It is one thing to talk about these challenges and quite another course to roll up your sleeves, get in the trenches and make a difference! That is what you two continue to do as friends and allies to Native people. You have chosen not to sit on the sidelines and for that I believe in my heart of hearts that your daughter Eve, is so very proud of you tireless work in her memory.
Stay well, Stay strong!!
Your brother in wellness and healing,
Clayton

MessageIt's hard to believe how much time has passed since Eve graced this earth. I didn't have an opportunity to know Eve when she was emerging into such a beautiful, talented woman. Nonetheless it's clear she would have continued on a path to success and self-fulfillment because she carried within her the talents and sensibilities of her 2 very special parents. And there's no doubt that she left an indelible imprint behind which remains forever.

MessageBarbara,

I am glad that through Eve I have become friends with you. As I've told you before, I've spent time in New Mexico and I have witnessed the urgent needs of the Navajo children in poverty.

Like I've said before, I had kind of run out of memories of Eve. I looked at some of the pictures. She is shaking hands with Headmaster Grubbs. My parents have the same picture of me in their living room. It reminded me and you may not know the full story of this. Each year Mr. Grubbs had admissions staff select one student from each class year for him to be an advisor for. My friend Stu had Mr. Grubbs the year before. He told me that Mr. Grubbs always asked for a student who would give interesting ideas. So Eve was selected out of a class of about 110 people, so somebody must have seen something special in Eve. I'm not explaining this very clearly, I realize, but I hope you can follow. The other thing I learned was that Eve liked to put Mr. Grubbs on the spot. And our small English class we would tell stories before class and she had some good ones about talking to Mr. Grubbs.

The other thing I remembered about Eve is that she loved to sing. I'm sure you know this but she would sing on the way to class. She would sing random stuff like TV theme songs. And she sang so well. She used to sing a song about "That good ole' Mountain Dew". I figured it was a jingle from a soda ad till I heard somebody sing it at an old time/bluegrass festival
