MessageJudy, I'm sorry I haven't kept up with you. I wish you the best, best of luck. If anyone can beat this, you can.

I know I'm in Los Angeles, but if there's anything I can do for you from here, just let me know.

Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Kick it's ass.

MessageJudy! You know, of course, I shall always have a soft spot in my heart since you are NUMBER ONE in the list of Chicago improvisers I have met in my travels, way back in the fall of 1992, a full year before I started classes at Second City in that acting class in Columbia College. I don't even remember the teacher's name, just his statement that "We will almost all certainly fail."

I will keep you and the family in my thoughts, especially on the 23rd, and check the blog regularly, of course. Your willingness to share your experiences with the rest of us is simply awe-inspiring. You, Judy, are amazing.

MessageHi Judy!
Melissa & I have been thinking about you often, and are so glad to hear your surgery is scheduled and you have worked through many tough decisions. This may sound weird, but I wanted to share a little experience with you from my Unitarian Church in Evanston. One wall of the church (the wall the congregation faces) is an enourmous glass window overlooking trees and nature. Every week there is a time in the service for silent prayer/meditation. A couple weeks ago it was snowing hard during the service, and I was thinking of you - at the same time I was completely transfixed by this enourmous pine tree out the window, getting beaten with snow and freezing rain. Last week, the tree was radiant and glistening, and more beautiful than ever, and I thought of you again. You are weathering your storm head-on, with such grace and strength, like the tree. I am so touched that you are sharing your story. Like the tree, you remind me that life can throw so many unexpected things our way. You remind me that the more we face obstacles head on, allowing the love and support around us to hold us up when we feel week, we have the capacity to grow SO much, and open ourselves to an entirely new perspective on life. I have no doubt you will emerge from the storm glistening and radiant. smilie
We love you!!!
Melissa S. (and B.)

MessageJudy, You don't know me, but I know Joe Janes here in Chicago, who knows you, and thus now I do...kinda. I love that you've chosen to share your story online for your loved ones to read and support you, and for others to come and find out that they're not alone. In that ilk, may I recommend "Why I Wore Lipstick: To My Mastectomy"
by Geralyn Lucas, that is of course if you have not already read it. I suggest it because it is a well spun tale, much like your own, of a woman battling her breast cancer, and your website reminds me so much of it. Continue the fight, and you WILL get your body back! Take care.
