Message | Hi....I stumbled across your blog while trying to get information about Korean culture as relates to male friendships/relationships. I've observed in some of the YouTube entertainment videos certain behaviors (holding hands, kissing, hugging) between male entertainers that, in my opinion, appear to be gay, but I am told are not. As an American, I sincerely don't understand. I am told by Korean fans that this 'gay' behavior is considered "fan service" and, while I just don't believe that 'straight' men would behave like 'gay' men if they aren't, in fact, gay...when interviewed, same entertainers talk about desire for future marriage to women? Do you know if this is a Korean cultural phenom or is being gay unacceptable and truth hidden by "fan service" label? I would appreciate any explanation you can give. Regards. |
