Message | PART 1/3 MESSAGE We would love to work with you and the young people aged between 16-30 that are living with HIV.
I am writing to you from Body & Soul, an award winning charity transforming the profound impact of childhood adversity. For the last 21 years we have been delivering a unique programme of support dedicated to children, young people and families living with and affected by HIV. In 2011 we launched ‘Life in my shoes’, an ambitious campaign inspired by our members experiences of the impact of stigma on their lives. We wanted to create a campaign that was a catalyst for change, that would challenge the stigma and ignorance that surrounded HIV and that would be part of bringing greater empathy to the world. Life in my shoes shines a spotlight on young people’s stories of resilience and disrupts the perceptions that many people hold strong. Through film, online presence, exhibitions, media and schools outreach we have reached over a million people. Throughout this journey, the central mechanism for change has come through story telling. And it is with this in mind that I am contacting you and your organisation. The young people at Body & Soul have roots from all around the world, but their experiences are of young people navigating the journey of HIV here in the UK. |
