MessageGreat to stumble across your site. My dad, Gene Ireland, was an active 2-11 association member in the late 60's - mid-70's (we left Phoenix for northern AZ in 76). Grew up around the corner from station 25 in Maryvale, and, as a kid, went out on lots of fires when the scanner went off in the middle of the night with dad in his red hard hat. Helped with fire prevention nights, and remember visiting with Randy Potts widow after his death in 74 - as a nine-year old kid, that made a big impression. Finding this page brings back lots of memories, thanks.

MessageNice site, nice that you're on-scene as much as you are with some great pics. Freqs are a bit out of date though, you can get the updates at KD4IML.Com if you like.

Keep up the good work.

MessageI have thousands of pictures that I need to scan into my system from my years with the 2-11 Assn. and actually working for PFD as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher.

Bob, I hear that you are now in Seattle. I grew up in West Seattle, leaving at 14 as part of my Dad's job relocation.

I don't know if you remember me, or not, but I was dating Dennis Zoha, after joining the club in about 1971.

Bob Bombiardi is now a Fire Captain with Rural Metro. Gus passed away, several years ago.

I think Joe Dobson is still living in downtown Phoenix in a homeless/christian center. His brother just passed, last year.

I keep in touch with Chief Bruce Varner of the Santa Rosa FD. He had retired from PFD and moved to Texas (Carrolton) to become Chief for 10 years, then moved to Santa Rosa 9 years ago.

What happened to Dick George and Richard Blanton - and Virgil Roberts? Do you know?

It's too bad that we couldn't get a Fire Buff reunion together, for us "old" folks!

I can contribute some of my photography, if you would like?

Yes, I am a ham radio operator, thus my call-sign Ka7thy - obtain in 1991. So many intests, not enough time!
