MessageHi Jenny,
Read an old post of yours on a Nick Drake site and wanted to say hello. As a struggling author I of course want the whole world to read my novel Journey Home. I thought this morning I would start with you and your friends.

Be well,

Paul

MessageHi,

Wanted to let you know about an inspiring book called "The Book of Happy Endings" by Elise Val Morbida. It is a collection of true stories telling how people met and fell in love. It's told from the individual's point of view and as they come from different backgrounds, generations and genders it is full of variety and definately not your run of the mill romance book.
It's a happy reminder that the unexpected does happen even against all odds. Good if you're looking to put a smile on your face! smilie
I am from the publishers but I've read this book from cover to cover and think it's beautifully and honestly written.... give it a go and tell me what you think of it.

MessageI love your site. We link to you on ours (www.cruzbustamante.com).

I'm not sure your criteria, but I would highly recommend "My Name Is Red" by Orhan Pahmuk.

The book is a murder-mystery laced with brilliant prose about the illuminists and artists of the Orient and Middle East in the 13th century.

It's beautiful. Just a thought. Keep up the fine reviews.

MessageWell as you know I have hung out (briefly) with Tom Robbins' son but never read his dad's books so will make a concerted effort to see what all the fuss - good and bad - is about. Have already drawn up my holiday reading list* for this summer though, so it will have to wait til Xmas.

*Mostly fiction but I'm still waiting for my Serge Gainsbourg biography from Abebooks. Where is it?!

MessageIn reality, every reader is, while he is reading, the reader of his own self. The writer's work is merely a kind of optical instrument which he offers to the reader to enable him to discern what, whithout this book, he would perhaps never have experienced in himself. And the recognition by the reader in his own self of what the book says is the proof of its veracity... - Marcel Proust
