Ik had via Anneke al gehoord van jullie grote avontuur en toen ze vertelde over jullie dagboek ben ik dat meteen gaan lezen. Ik zit nu ergens in augustus en de foto~s zijn geweldig. Ik dacht in het begin, ik lees even gauw bij tot waar jullie nu zijn maar dat gaat helaas niet lukken. Omdat jullie allebei erg leuk schrijven wil ik eigenlijk alles lezen dus dat duurt nog wel even! Ik wens jullie veel plezier bij het vervolg van de reis!

It is SOMALILAND which we are visiting. Somaliland, formerly Somaliland Protectorate (British), declared itself independent from Somali in 1991, having previously agreed to (but not fully ratified) join with Somalia in 1960.

It is a peaceful democratic country with respect for the rule of law. A model state, but one which is STILL not officially recognised by the international community. Everyone here is very interested in achieving recognition, which is why I am writing this message.

Apparently a high level delegation from the Dutch Government is coming here in a week to investigate and report on the situation here. Fingers crossed.

I will send an e-mail to ultraguest to ask them to include Somaliland and the flag in their list of countries.

MessageHi Guys, fijn dat jullie weer smilie in Somalië zijn. Het is toch vervelend te lezen, dat het erg onrustig werd, Hier in Nederland lees of hoor je r tot nu toe weinig over. In ieder geval, genieten maar.
