MessageIf Konnan really needs money for a medical problem I could send a few bucks...every little bit helps. Don't know where to send though... I know wrestlers don't get benefits like the rest of us, for the most part.

There are some real jerks who post on this board and its a shame. Why anyone would want to defile a cool site like this is beyond me.

Lanny -- don't know if you know about him, but Pittsburgh was also home to Jumping Johnny Defazio -- mid-card, local wrestler who was president of a steelworkers local and was on Pittsburgh's City Council for a while. He was an awesome wrestler.

MessageAs many of you know already, Konnan was scheduled for a hip replacement last week in Mexico. While doing the pre-surgery prep work, which includes being, checked over, doctors were alerted when his kidneys weren’t working properly. Konnan had an internal infection along with not having many antibodies to fight the infection. Due the kidney issues, the surgery was postponed until next week some time.

Konnan returned to the United States to undergo kidney dialysis 3 times a week under the doctor’s orders with hopes of that it will reduce his chances of a fatal accident during the surgery.

Once Konnan found out his kidneys were in bad shape, he immediately thought it was from the long-term steroid use. Doctors said his kidney failure was not due to steroid use however it did contribute to it. Like many wrestlers, Konnan has been using painkillers to ease his pain over the years so he could continue to wrestle.

Several years back, Konnan was told he would need a hip replacement later down the road. Instead of taking care of things at the time, he used painkillers to control it but only to find out he’s done more internal damage than he thought.

more in a couple years
than most make in a lifetime.
and now he expect's want's other people
to pay for it. Because he pissed
his money away!

MessageThanks Shawn!

I love Pittsburgh! Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazerowski and Bruno Sammartino were 3 of my favorites!

Inch by inch, anything's a cinch! You can do it!

MessageWhen I was a little boy growing up in Pittsburgh all I ever wanted to do was be a wrestler. That didn't work out unfortunately. I'm 47 now and its been years since I've been a regular fan of wrestling but the other day I saw an old wrestling rerun with your father on it when he was young, probably from the mid 1950s. Of course, I knew who he was and who you and Randy were and I know what Randy's been up to but I started wondering about what happened to you. Now I know -- boy is the internet great. I'm glad to see you are leading the charge against smoking. I smoke a pack a day and my wife smoked three a day until recently. Now she has COPD and can't stop and its hard on her. She's down to a pack. I was able to cut down but not stop. I wish someone had stopped me from smoking when I was 12. I wish I could stop now.

Anyway, glad to see you're doing okay -- seeing the "Genius" was always a high point for me during my wrestling watching days. Take care of yourself and keep fighting those tobacco companies -- they have us all snookered.

And don't let that creep racist get to you -- smoking is better for you than the garbage he spews.

MessageThanks, guestbook volunteer!

Because of people like you, racism and vulgarity will not be the first impression of this guestbook. Thanks for monitoring!

...and thanks to all the people who have watched my new video (15 seconds) for the CBS Super Bowl contest.

Thanks!

Lanny Poffo
