MessageNigel:

I used to work with your John around 1978/79 time. We were on the same staff and I two-manned with him quite often. We had some great laughs.

MessageHi Dennis,
Just happened across your site. Absolutely spot on. I worked for B.T. from 1972-87 and being an apprentice had to work with some of the older emplyees who seemed to think that as soon as the pubs opened then work should finish for the day. Brilliant. What an education. I was teamed up on my first day with a character called Freddy Wright who promptly left me in a jointbox and shot off to the pub. An hour or so later he returned, told me to finish what I was doing and drove us both back to the pub where we both got hammered. Unbelievable but great fun. Can't help thinking we wouldn't get away with it now. Great times. Also I was a friend of Malcolm White who indeed was a lovely bloke. After his death someone rang my sister in law to commiserate thinking it was my brother John who had died. John also worked for B.T. Easy mistake I suppose considering our surname is the same.
Once again great site.
regards, Nigel White

MessageHello one and all. What a good read on such a miserable day. I know Helen's parents, Betty and the late Edddie Tweedie,I played with Helen. Walkinshaws chip shop was not there ,or at least not up and running the last time I was in Killyleagh a few weeks ago, pity about that as it was the best chippy around. I know a lot of people mentioned in your guestbook, some I'd rather not know truth be told, to hear about most of them though was very good, memories and all that.Keep adding to the guestbook people,I'll look forward to hearing from you all.

MessageI also was born in Shrigley at 84 Main Street and lived my life in Killyleagh until I was 21 when I moved to Australia with my new wife Hilary Brown in 1970.

I have been back several times over the years and agree that Killyleagh has changed. The shop you had icecream in was Walkinshaw's, and I know it very well. It was still there when I was last over there last year.

I went to school with a David Hannah who was from Shrigley and I think I saw him last time I was there.
You can contact me on the address above.
