COPPA law and guestbook entries...
Hi,
As you know, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) could be applicable to guestbook entries as well - especially where sites are visited by minors (Please correct me if I'm misinterpreting this law.) One could set up an 'intercept' page on such a website website notifying and asking the user a 'Yes/No' question whether they are over the age of 13 ('Yes' continues to the Sign Guestbook page, 'No' doesn't). One can't however, alter the 'url' to the 'Sign Guestbook' link that's embedded in Ultraguest's View Guestbook page. Is there any possibility of setting up the guestbook options to enable me to do edit the sign guestbook link and insert an intercept ir disclaimer page address instead? Or... instead, can Ultraguest set up an 'intercept page' or window as an option that only permits a user to access the Sign Guestbook page if they click 'Yes' to the terms (e.g. as defined under COPPA)? For now, I put it in the header text (not to post email addy if under 13). I routinely view my guestbook entries anyways and remove personal information as well as email addresses entered by minors ~ even if the public can't view email addresses in the guestbook. Many Thanks, James Last edited by Sif.Admin; 07-28-2007 at 04:11 PM. Reason: clarification |

Re: COPPA law and guestbook entries...
Thanks for brining this to my attention. I'll do some research regarding the COPPA and make necessary adjustments if required.
