New feature - RSS feed - Beta
Hi,
If you would like to get an RSS feed of the 10 latest entries in your guestbook you may point your reader to http://www.ultraguest.com/rss.php?id=[YOUR GUESTBOOK ID], for example: http://www.ultraguest.com/rss.php?id=1041779607 Please note that this feature is still in the Beta phase, but if some of you would check it out and let me know if it does not work, I would appreciate it. Thanks! |

More information regarding the RSS-feed:
Only the first 100 characters of messages are displayed. RSS version is 0.91 for greatest compatability. People viewing the RSS does not count towards the guestbook statistics. Smilies are removed from all posts. |

Re: New feature - RSS feed - Beta
Sure thing!
RSS-feeds are XML formated outputs of something - in this case your guestbooks (or at least the 10 last added entries). If you are using a certain software called an aggregator (such as FeedReader - http://www.feedreader.com/) or even the Firefox or Opera web-browsers, you can easily view the "feeds" of many webpages quickly, without having to actually visit all the sites. This saves you time. Blogs and forums frequently make use of RSS feeds for this purpose. I wanted to make this feature available, primarily for guestbook owners, so that they can see if there are any new entries in the guestbook without having to actually visit it. Let me know if you have any other questions regarding RSS or how it works. BTW, you can also view the RSS feed of this forum here: http://forum.ultraguest.com/external.php?type=xml |

Re: New feature - RSS feed - Beta
Thank You Andreas,
Yes it does work and I learned something too! Great stuff! Just to let you know it works in Safari also, but posts' names are not included with info. In Opera everythinng is as should be... Thank You Again (ps: I thought I should add that I'm Mac user on OS 10.37, maybe that info is useful to you? All systems are different, eh?) Last edited by Rudi; 05-16-2005 at 09:02 PM. |
