Message | Mr Richard, thanks for the compliment of my English being "near on perfect" (I was the translator). In case you don't remember me, I'm Chiao Yen's cousin. As a matter of fact, I do believe that speaking English for the entire 15 years of my life (with the exception of the period when I was a baby and couldn't speak at all) does help in maintaining the standard of "near on perfect" that I am at now. I am quite a language person, seeing as I'm trilingual and am able to speak a dialect in addition. However, if you find anything wrong in my translation, please point them out to me so that I can improve and hopefully the my grasp of the English language can move closer to "perfect". Anyways, I appreciated the compliment and good luck for your attempt in learning Chinese. p.s. I'm sorry but I'm still not that open (Chinese blood runs in me) and I just can't accept the way you call Chiao Yen "sweetheart", "my girl", etc. To tell the truth, I find it quite repulsive and I believe Chiao Yen's other family members think so too. As this blog is open to her family and friends, may I suggest that you tone down the use of these nicknames or better, don't use them at all. A selfish request on my part, but I hope you can take this request into account. |
